Notes
Presentation - You can make these energy bites pressed and chilled into different shapes for festive flair. Flavor Tips - Dried apples are here for a little natural sweetness and to act as a binder for the energy bites. Choose ones that look plump and not overly dried. I use organic unsweetened applesauce for a bit of moisture, additional apple flavor and natural sweetness.Technique - To get the most uniform bites, process all the ingredients except the water and applesauce first until finely ground. Then add the remaining ingredients and allow the food processor to run until a smooth ball forms. Helpful Tools - I love using a cookie scoop to portion my energy bites. Variations - Roll the outside in apple chips for a crunchy bite! I would suggest doing this right before serving or the chips will get soft in the refrigerator. You could add some different warming spices based on your preferences.Storage - Store apple crisp energy bites in the refrigerator because of the applesauce. Store in a zip-top plastic bag or airtight container. They will keep up to 2 weeks refrigerated, 3 days at room temperature or 3 months frozen.33 calories each
