Frequently Asked Questions

What do I serve with easy chocolate desserts?

I often serve chocolate desserts with a simple swoosh of lightly sweetened whipped cream, but a crème fraiche whipped cream would also be a nice pairing. It would be best to avoid any garnish adding additional sweetness like caramel, but a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or crème anglaise would be a welcome addition! The creaminess of the dairy mellows any bitterness and highlights the chocolate notes.

Easy chocolate dessert to impress?

First, consider the balance of flavors, sweetness and texture. Desserts don’t have to be complicated to be impressive. Look no further than my Chocolate Pudding Recipe. Call it a pot de crème to be fancy! My pastry chef secret is that presentation is everything. Add a few edible flowers or beautifully cut fruit for color and contrast. Check out my list of Valentine’s Day Desserts for romance all year long!

What type of chocolate chips should I buy?

The type of chocolate chips I buy depends on how sweet I want the dessert to be! I often like to mix and play with the proportions of different varieties of chocolate. Personally, I want them to be just sweet enough with a high quality texture. Try to find chocolates with the least amount of additives, as they sometimes impact taste and mouthfeel. I really love bittersweet chocolate chips because they balance some of the sweetness in desserts. They are also extra melty and will give you that melted chocolate pull that we live for!
